For an actor, reeling off endless lines of Shakespeare is a demanding job. Shouting it over the din of planes, helicopters and ambulance sirens whizzing past New York’s Central Park is even tougher. Doing it all naked however, in front of hundreds of onlookers – who would do that?

I just have a hard time taking this all seriously. Naked Shakespeare just seems ridiculous. Body freedom? Really, is this what we’ve come to? Gimmick after endless gimmick. Also, why all female? That sounds exclusionary…
I tend to agree but if it brings in more punters than peeping Toms, it’s good for theatre.
It reminds me of The Goodbye Girl when Elliot has to play Shakespeare’s king with a hump and speech impediment. 🙂
Oh, yes! I remember it well. I loved that film and I was half in love with Dreyfus.
he was so sweet back then. What happened? So many of his other roles have him acting so snarky.
I agree. It’s as if Close Encounters was his undoing. Of course, he had his drink/drug problems but even so.
I didn’t know he had those problems–that can certainly make a mess of things! So can aliens!
