    Very interesting to see the South London connections. I had read about her turbulent life with Laughton, but knew nothing of her background. I agree that a blue plaque should be placed in Farley Road.

        It has been! The first section of “Elsa Lanchester – Herself” covers her childhood and early career; it is a fascinating read. It becomes more of a biography of Laughton after her marriage to him and is a bit rambling. Second hand copies are relatively easy to get hold of, in the U.K., at least.
