Thomas Mitchell was indeed a great character actor in many a great movie — one of which is one of my all-time favorites, but which is all but forgotten today: MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW (1937), directed by Leo McCarey, It’s a wonderfully poignant film, superbly acted by stars Victor Moore and Beulah Bondi as an elderly couple shunted aside by their adult children (including Mitchell). If ever a film ‘rang true,’ this is it.

I need to look out for that film. What I hate in the UK is that they no longer fill the afternoon and late evening schedules with nearly enough of the old movies. They’re all too recent! Mitchell was a joy. Thank you visiting and commenting, MisterMuse!
