And here I always thought that awards were for excellence – not political correctness.
I’m all for equality, as you know. But not in favour of positive discrimination in order to be able to ‘tick boxes’. That said, I have seen few 2017 films during the past year, so have no idea who made the best ones.

I know what you’re saying but from what I’ve read, there were two or three good films directed by women that many say should have been in contention.

Maybe there needs to be an awards show only/just for women – women producers, actors, directors, camera women, etc. And, by example start taking these things by the storm.
I’m not sure. I’m rather with Pete in not agreeing with positive discrimination. Those organising and voting need to adjust their mindsets, I think.
