Do you think that is true Sarah? Too bad if true, it’s hard to believe that would be the only way to survive in Hollywood.

No, I don’t think it’s true. Utter determination gets you a long way but I think Davis may well have been defending/excusing her reputation. Many people get somewhere that way but I don’t think it’s par for the course. Vicki might have a different response as she knows Hollywood and I don’t. What I have found over here is that the real stars are sweethearts and the ones a level down think they’re the bee’s knees and behave accordingly.

Thank you Sarah, I’ll bet you are right in that her reputation was not one that many of us would enjoy being around. I have to agree that in most fields that are that competitive, sheer determination and hard work eventually gives way to reaching one’s goal. Good to hear that on your side of the pond most actors are beautiful people (so funny your final thought – the bee’s knees!). Happy Monday to you ~

Interesting. Bee’s knees must be a particularly British expression!

Ah, good old ‘bee’s knees’! Keep those expressions alive, Sarah.
Davis may not have been correct, but it’s still a great quote from an acid tongue.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

The Stuff They Won't Include in Any Tourist Guide: The Real England

The Real England is a concise, direct, and not-so-gentle window into the depths of the leftovers of the world’s once greatest empire. It is told from the perspective of one lone (or not so lone) long term visitor. It informs one of the dregs of the country and helps to explain quaint British oddities such as the crack addicted chav.
